Our baby is the infant son of Ella and Dr Dudgeon and the brother of Tom.
In CC2 the boatman says to Mrs Barrable about Mrs Dudgeon: 'She'll not have time for 'em (Port & Starboard) all now, with a new young 'un of her own.
In BS1 Mrs Dudgeon comes by, pushing a perambulator. In BS10 "our baby" is in a cot in a corner of the room, and is a good deal bigger and more human than he had been in the spring. He bubbled at his father (use of male pronouns indicate he is a boy).
