Cormorant Island is more-or-less opposite [[Wild Cat Island]], towards the western shore of [[the Lake]]. It is much smaller than Wild Cat and is mostly rocks. Cormorants and a kingfisher nest there (see [[Birds in the Books]]) and it is also where [[Titty]] hears pirates burying treasure in [[Swallows and Amazons]] when she is onboard [[Amazon]] in the middle of the night.

The [[Altounyan]] children used to call [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/519007 Maiden Holme] (a tiny island just south of [[Belle Isle]]) Cormorant Island{{Evidence?}}.
