Events in the 1920s

• 1920: Birth of Titty Walker (Mavis Guzelian)
• 1922: Birth of Roger Walker (Roger Altounyan)
• 1926: Birth of Bridget Walker (Brigit Sanders)
• Summer of 1928: (one year before the Walkers visit Holly Howe), Daddy is on leave and teaches Titty and Roger to sail (perhaps at Falmouth) (SA1).
• 1928: The Amazons were given Amazon by Uncle Jim "last year" (said in 1929, therefore in 1928) (SA10); previously they went to the island in a "rowing galley".

Native events in the 1920s

• 1920: Racundra's First Cruise and The Soldier and Death published.
• 1924: Arthur marries Evgenia at the British Consulate in Reval, Estonia (8 May) after getting his divorce from Ivy.
• 1926-27: Ransome visited China from Christmas 1926 to April 1927 for the Manchester Guardian, for which he wrote articles. They were republished in a book on Chinese politics, and he later used his experiences to write Missee Lee.
• 1927 The Chinese Puzzle published, with a forward by David Lloyd George.
• 1928: Altounyan family purchases two sailing dinghies, named Swallow and Mavis(CFT2).
• 1929: A severe winter, with Windermere freezing over for several weeks. Similar to the "Great Frost" of February 1895, which was the inspiration for Winter Holiday In the Great Frost the whole of Windermere was frozen, and the headmaster of Arthur's school at Windermere let them make the most of it. Those weeks of clear ice with that background of snow-covered, sunlit, blue-shadowed hills were, forty years after, to give me a book called Winter Holiday for which I have a sort of tenderness Autobiography page 19 and Life pages 46-47.
